Home Safety Assessment
How Safe is Your Home Environment?
According to a 2012 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), falls are the leading cause of injury death among older adults over age 65. The report also says that people age 75 and older who fall are “four-to five times more likely than those age 65 to 74 to be admitted to a long-term care facility for a year or longer.”
We’ll visit your loved one’s home and identify fall risks or other potential hazards. We’ll make suggestions for modifications to make sure your loved one is living in the safest environment possible in order to avoid accidents. Simple assistive devices like a grip bar in the tub or a bar next to toilet can make all of the difference.
